LogFalcon: laptop-free FPV blackbox offload
LogFalcon lets FPV pilots offload compatible blackbox logs in the field without a laptop. Built by Uplink Connect, the open-source Raspberry Pi tool copies and verifies the saved file before clearing flight-controller storage for further logging. Retained logs can be downloaded later through its local Wi-Fi dashboard.

- Verified before erase
- Controller flash is cleared only after the Pi-side log file has been copied and verified with SHA-256.
- Laptop-free field operation
- The device operates offline and can run from a compatible USB power bank.
- Tested on flight-controller hardware
- Tested by Uplink Connect on a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W with Betaflight AIO and stack flight controllers.
Full storage interrupts logging
Blackbox logs help FPV pilots understand aircraft behaviour and assess tuning. When a controller’s internal flash fills, logging stops.
Retrieving the logs and clearing storage can require a laptop, configurator and extra equipment in the middle of a flying session. LogFalcon provides a compact device for carrying out that task in the field.
Connect, offload and retrieve the logs later
The field workflow is straightforward:
- Connect a compatible flight controller to LogFalcon.
- Follow the device LED while it reads, saves and verifies the log before clearing controller flash.
- Disconnect when the sync is complete and continue flying.
- Download the retained logs later through the device’s local Wi-Fi dashboard.
LogFalcon runs on a Raspberry Pi Zero W or Zero 2 W. The Zero 2 W board measures 65 × 30 mm, and a compatible 5 V / 2.5 A USB power bank allows operation away from mains power.

Verification comes before erasure
Erasure is the final step. LogFalcon copies the blackbox data, verifies the completed Pi-side file with SHA-256 and records session information before requesting that the controller’s flash be cleared.
Supporting engineering includes controller detection, compatibility checks, MSP communication, storage handling and recovery paths. LED feedback and the local Wi-Fi interface provide status information and access to retained logs.
An open-source tool for field log management
Uplink Connect launched LogFalcon as an open-source alternative to a laptop-led blackbox offload process. It brings copying, verification and controller clearing into a dedicated device, with logs retained for later review.
LogFalcon is designed for compatible Betaflight and iNav internal SPI-flash blackbox workflows. It does not retrieve logs stored on a flight controller’s own SD card.
